What platform will NLC Convention: AT HOME occur on?

NLC Convention: AT HOME uses the Hopin platform.

How do I create a profile on Hopin?

You should have received an email from New Leaders Council with a subject line of “Invitation to online event - New Leaders Council Convention: AT HOME.” This is your pass to get into the official NLC Convention app Hopin. From the email, please click “Accept Registration,” agree to the terms and conditions and click “continue.”

While you won’t be able to get into the event yet, now is a great time to create your Hopin profile. This is what NLC community members will see to engage with you during NLC Convention: AT HOME.

Rather than clicking “create your profile” on the home page, we suggest you head over to “My Account” under your initials on the right corner of the screen. Then head to “My Profile” on the fourth tab. There you can create a more robust profile that includes your headshot, headline, bio and more. Make sure to change your password here to so you can log in later!

When writing your profile, we ask that you include your pronouns, your job title, and your NLC affiliation (if applicable). Mine, for example: She/Her/ Hers – Vice President, New Leaders Council + NLC New Jersey ’11.

What browser should I use?

LC Convention: AT HOME uses the Hopin platform, which you can access via the internet. We recommend attending the events through your laptop/pc as we can't guarantee it will work on mobile. The latest versions of Chrome or Firefox guarantee the best user experience. Please avoid using Brave, Safari, and Microsoft IE or Edge.

Do I need to download any software to my computer to particiapte in NLC Convention: AT HOME?

No, you don’t have to download any software to attend NLC Convention: AT HOME. The event uses the Hopin platform. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox for the best virtual event experience.

What can I do if I'm getting a 500 error or a 404 error message?

If you are getting a 500 error or a 404 error message, try: Refreshing your web browser Restarting your web browser Clearing your browser cache Try a different type of web browser Sign out of your Hopin account and sign back in Restart your computer Most importantly, ensure that your web browser is updated and compatible based on the system requirements

Why can't I join a session or stage?

If you’re unable to join a session or a stage, it could be due to one of the following reasons: The moderator or organizer is not allowing you to enter the session or stage. Your browser may not be giving Hopin access to your audio or video devices. You cannot join a session or stage without your AV. Please make sure that you have given consent via browser permission for Hopin to access your camera and microphone. If you don’t receive a pop up asking for your consent, this could be a bug issue (please follow steps below to work around). To resolve the potential bug issue, try the following solutions: refresh your browser, close all your other browsers and exit from applications that might be accessing your AV such as Zoom, Webex, Gotomeeting etc, clear your cache and browsing history, and/or restart your computer.

I'm having video/audio problems.

When accessing Hopin for the first time, you will be prompted to select your audio and video device so that people can hear and see you at the event. If you are unable to select your AV options, you may need to give browser permissions for Hopin to access your AV devices. To give browser permissions in Chrome: In the URL bar, find the video camera icon and click it. A dropdown menu will appear Make sure your camera and microphone are allowed for You can also check to see if Hopin has access to your AV devices this way: In your browser, click Chrome Go to Preferences Under Advanced, select Privacy and Security. Find Site Settings Under Site Settings, locate Camera and Microphone Hopin should be one of the approved sites.

How do I report a violation to the NLC Convention: AT HOME Code of Conduct?

If you have a complaint or concern about any behavior that violates the NLC Convention: At Home Code of Conduct, we encourage you to make a report. You can make a report by direct messaging NLC Help Desk in the “people” tab on the right of your Hopin screen.

Who did you invite to speak at NLC Convention: AT HOME?

New Leaders Council is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to recruit, train, and promote the rising generation of progressive leaders. Both presidential candidates were invited to speak in accordance with C3 guidelines that require all candidates to be invited if one is to speak or be represented.
